It is simple and warm, yet somehow powerful and profound, and it is a taste that can only be produced by keeping tradition alive. Onta ware is a traditional pottery that has been handed down for 300 years in the mountains of Hita City, Oita Prefecture. It has a modern and interesting geometric pattern, and when you hold it in your hand, you can feel the warmth and texture that only clay and handcraft can give.
And, Koishiwara ware is the root of Onta ware and is known as the “brother kiln”. It opened a little earlier than Onta ware and has been in operation for about 350 years.

The difference between the two potteries is the soil used as raw material. The soil used in Onta ware is darker than the soil used in Koishiwara ware.
